Aleisha "Bombshell" Shepherd

In 1933 the House of David played under "arc lights" at Navin Field with our season starter, "Jackie" Mitchell; professional base ball's first female athlete. Having been invited to return to Navin Field in 2014 to once again stand at home plate, where Ty Cobb, Ruth, Gehrig, Hornsby and all the great hitters in base ball history stood, was a great moment/day in our continued sports history. To fit the program authentically, we had our female starter, Aleisha "bombshell" Shepherd start the match and pitch a number of innings throughout the match. Here she is standing where Jackie Mitchell stood in 1933. Also, it should be mentioned a bit of ancient base ball history: the Chicago Cubs also stood at this plate in the 1945 World Series against the Tigers.
